Todd Mapes

Born and raised in the Sacramento area, I spent the first 20 years of my life navigating the fast-paced California lifestyle. With 2 years of college under my belt, I relocated to the northwest in 2003 where I have been ever since. I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development at Washington State University (Vancouver) in SW Washington. After graduation, I attempted to enter the field I received my degree in and found social services a bit too challenging. After a year of working as a drug and alcohol counselor at an outpatient treatment facility, I decided to pursue a career in sales. From 2007-2020, I led a successful career in insurance sales, working as a captive agent for Amica Mutual Insurance Company in Lake Oswego. After leading my branch in production from 2013-2020, I hit a bit of a lull and started to explore other opportunities. Having a friend in the mortgage business I subtly asked him if there was a possibility to work with him, to which he replied ‘absolutely’. Within a 2 month period, I obtained my mortgage originator license and started my career as a Loan Officer at Synergy One Lending (SW Portland).
 
I have found many similarities between selling insurance and originating loans. The primary similarity has to do with relationship-building; something I spent years doing as a captive insurance-agent. My experience has taught me the importance of building enduring relationships with my customer base, through frequent contact, following through on commitments, and attention to detail. Above everything, my commitment to conducting business with a high level of integrity has proven time and time again to be the key in a successful operation. I see each application as an opportunity, both to build a new relationship, and help individuals and families realize their goal of owning a new home.
